Multiple news sources have revealed that a man was attempting to cross the State Route 113 when he was fatally hit at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
The accident occurred just north of Gibson and according to the California Highway Patrol troopers who responded to the scene, alcohol or speed are not factors in the crash.
Trooper reported that two men were collecting cans off the roadway when one of them suddenly ran across the northbound lanes. He told his friend to follow him, however, the second man failed to do so safely, running in front of a Ford Focus.
The accident led to a fatality and now, the California Highway Patrol is investigating.
