Recently, an accident on Highway 101 claimed a life. While the factor that led to the accident has yet to be revealed, many different factors could cause similar collisions.
The accident that happened on Sunday night took place when the 71-year-old man behind the wheel of a 1989 Alfa Romeo convertible made an unsafe lane change into the number one lane going north. As a result, the left side of his vehicle crashed into the right side of a 2016 Hyundai sedan. After the impact, the driver in the Alfa Romeo lost control over the vehicle and ended up veering onto the dirt shoulder.
As a result, the vehicle then traveled up a dirt embankment and the car ended up rolling over. The man was ejected from the car as a result.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver was not wearing his seat belt.
This horrific accident may not teach us about the reasons why the man made the unsafe lane change. Still, it shows that buckling up and making sure all passengers have their seat belt ons may actually save lives.
We are saddened to have learned that this deadly accident happened. We hope the victim’s loved ones are getting the support and care they need in this time of grief.
