Judge Involved in Crash May Have Been Intoxicated

accident crashDistracted driving has become so dangerous that it is now a more serious threat than driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. But all too frequently, drivers are still involved in serious and even deadly crashes due to their intake of alcoholic beverages prior to the accident.

The latest example of this type of behavior involved a New York state judge, reports show.

According to the news sources covering this story, the judge was arrested after being involved in a single-car crash while on her way to court. Authorities claimed that the judge was driving while intoxicated.

The 34-year-old was appointed to her post in 2014. She crashed her vehicle along Interstate 490 around 8 a.m. this past Saturday. She was on her way to court, where she was scheduled to preside over a series of criminal court arraignments.

The judge’s car was damaged due to the crash, but no injuries were reported.

Once police asked the judge to take a breathalyzer test, she refused. After being released she was charged with a DWI misdemeanor offense. She was given an appearance ticket.
Another judge presided in her place after the arrest.

Drivers should listen to this story and keep in mind that distracted driving is not the only threat to drivers across the country. Intoxicated driving is still a risk.
