Hospital In California Fined After Putting Patients In Danger

According to recent articles, federal agencies have fined about 12 hospitals in California for several mistakes that posed dangers to patients.

The reports show that the $785,000 fines were related to cases that included one incident that led to the death of a patient who was the victim of the doctor’s improper use of surgical devices. Other incidents included cases in which patients had objects left inside of them, which resulted in additional surgeries.

Some cases also involved wrongly administered medications.

One of the cases involving the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Oakland resulted in a $100,000 fine after the physician failed to follow safety instructions, which caused the patient to suffer a vascular embolism. The victim unfortunately later died as a result.
