It’s been extensively reported in the news that one person was fatally wounded while another was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries as a result of an accident that involved a freight train and a car on Wednesday.
According to several media outlets, the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene to find the passenger of a Honda Civic dead and a driver seriously injured after a freight train crashed into the stopped vehicle. The authorities revealed that the vehicle was stopped on the tracks of the Silliman Road railroad at 6:45 in the morning when the accident took place. Train operators noticed the vehicle but were incapable of stopping the train in time.
Crew inside of the freight train sounded the horn as soon as they noticed the vehicle stopped ahead but the vehicle did not move, reports indicate.
At this moment, officials are investigating the accident and should have more details regarding this occurrence in the near future. Troopers were unaware of the factors that may have led the vehicle to be stopped at the intersection.
