Bicycle Wheel Rim Tapes Recalled, CPSC Reports

Several news agencies recently reported that Bicycle Wheel Rim Tapes are being recalled by FLO Cycling LLC of Las Vegas over a possible issue that could lead to injuries.

The reports issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have indicated that 800 units of the rim tapes in certain bicycles could break unexpectedly if the item is under pressure. By breaking, the inner tube could become punctured, which could lead to a failure of the bicycle and cause the rider to fall.

The company FLO Cycling received four reports of inner tubes becoming punctured and exploding as a result of a rim tape failure. Riders were not injured.

To prevent further incidents, the company is asking recalled bicycle riders with bicycles equipped with the recalled rim tapes to contact them right away.
