It is clear to many of our clients and readers that the risks associated with human error oftentimes lead to accidents. Many of you may already know that in order to avoid accidents and keep your loved ones safe, you should never drive while distracted, intoxicated, or ignore speed limits.
Still, many of our clients and readers are still confused as to how they should act in case their vehicles is impacted by a recall campaign.
The latest campaign to hit the news to have come to our attention was launched by Ford Motor Company. As a popular auto brand, many of our readers must own or have owned a Ford car at some point in their lives. Still, many will admit to not paying attention to these reports, unless they are personally contacted by the manufacturer.
Unfortunately, many drivers fail to update their information with the automaker when they move. As a result, announcements tied to these campaigns seldom make it to the impacted vehicle owners. That’s why it’s important that drivers act accordingly by making sure that their vehicles are repaired promptly.
Ford has recalled all units of the 2015 through 2017 F-150 vehicles as well as the 2017 F-250 and F-350 trucks that were fitted with crew cabs. These vehicles, the company has alleged, come with left rear inflatable seat belt buckle assemblies that may have been inadequately attached to the vehicle’s mounting bracket. In that case, the vehicles unfortunately fail to meet important safety requirements. But the issue may also have real life consequences if the left rear inflatable seat belt buckle comes undone. In this case, the occupant won’t be properly restrained and he or she may be injured in the event of a crash.
Ford has announced that all impacted vehicle owners will be contacted in October, which is when the official recall campaign will be launched.
For those of you who own one of the recalled vehicles and who may be concerned about the risks, remember that you should reach out to the manufacturer if you have further questions or concerns.
Once you’re contacted, Ford should have the seat belt assemblies inspected and the attaching rivets should be replaced for free.
