When we think it’s finally time for a break from the ever-growing list of recalled cars and the accident hazards they pose, we learn of another recall impacting popular vehicles that are widely used nationwide.
According to a series of news reports, several Honda Civics, some of the most popular vehicles in the country, are being recalled over a possible accident risk.
The reports show that the recalled vehicles include the 2017 Honda Civic sedans and coupes.
Since these vehicles come with right half-shafts that may have not been properly heat-treated, its strength may be reduced as a result and the half-shaft will break. In this case, the engine won’t be able to move the vehicle or the vehicle may end up rolling away.
In both scenarios, the vehicle may become involved in a collision, exposing impacted vehicle owners to accident risks.
Honda has announced that while this issue is serious and should not be ignored, all impacted vehicle owners will be contacted in the near future. Once you’re contacted, you may schedule a visit to a Honda dealer where you can get your car repaired promptly and for free.
Owners who are concerned about their safety and the safety of their loved ones can contact Honda or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to learn more about the recall. If they experience an accident that was caused by the issue tied to the recall, they should also report it to the NHTSA.
While we’re glad that no accidents have been associated with the recalled vehicles, we hope that drivers are not exposing themselves to danger by responding to these recalls promptly.
